Ki-Be took first as a team with 191 pts. Sunnyside was second with 176, and Hanford came in 3rd qith 162. The Bears had just about the best first round a team could experience at a tournament. In the first round, Ki-Be varsity wrestlers won 11 of 11 matches, 10 of them by pin. The other 3 wrestlers advanced with a bye. For the tournament Bear wrestlers won 35 of 62 matches and recorded 20 pins. Ross McDorman, Junior Gonzalez and Justin Rolland led the charge with 3 pins each. Winning championships were Brandon Ashley, Junior Gonzalez and Ross McDorman.
Brandon Defeated Kellen Hopkins, a pretty good freshman from East Valley. Brandon ended the match with a head and arm pin in the second round. Ross faced Andrew Morales of Grandview and recorded a pin in the third round to secure his title. Junior Gonzalez defeated Sammy Macias of Wapato who placed 4th at state last season in 3A competition. Junior threw Macias to his back twice to record 4 back points, which were the difference in the match.
Also having a good tournament were Jacob Johanns who placed 2nd at 103, Tony Chapin took 2nd at 145, Justin Rolland took 3rd at 171 and Jerry Haug was 4th at 130.
