NIC claims four tournament titles

North Idaho College had four wrestlers win titles Saturday at the Clackamas Invitational tournament in Oregon City, Ore.

Nathan Pascoe pulled off a stunning upset en route to the championship of the 174-pound division.

Pascoe used six takedowns to upset Highland College's Andy Olson 12-6. Olson is ranked No. 1 in the nation.

Ravil Mukhamediyev won a 4-3 decision to finish first in the 141-pound class. Stryder Davis (149) took first with a 7-3 decision, and Travis Liermann topped the 165-pound division with a 3-0 win.

John Zamora (157) and Alain Djoumessi (197) both placed second.

Third-place finishes went to heavyweight Mike Whitehead and 184-pounder Joshua Birt. Ale De La Pena (125) finished fourth.

NIC rolls through tuneup to Clackamas Invitational

Spokane _ Ale De La Pena, Nathan Pascoe and Mike Whitehead turned in dominating performances to lead the North Idaho College wrestling team to an easy 39-12 victory over the host Clackamas Cougars in Oregon City, Ore.

De La Pena opened with a 17-3 major decision in the 125-pound class.

Pascoe (174) manhandled his opponent 21-6 to earn a technical fall.

Whitehead cruised to a pin in 3 minutes, 31 seconds in the heavyweight division.

NIC also beat Pima (Ariz.) 44-0.

The Cardinals wrestle at the Clackamas Invitational beginning today.
