Luxemburg-Casco 25 Coleman 22 COLEMAN - Troy Metzler's decision at 189 pounds sealed the meet for Luxemburg-Casco as it defeated Coleman 25-22 in a nonconference wrestling dual between two of the state's best programs. L-C won the first four matches and built a 22-3 lead before the Cougars stormed back pulling within 22-18 going into the match at 189. Metzler was tied 2-2 in the third period with Coleman's Kyle Pelner until Metzler escaped with 48 seconds left scored a takedown and gave up a stalling point to win 5-3. Metzler sealed L-C's WIAA Division 2 state team championship in February with an overtime victory in the final and Coleman coach Kevin Casper thought that helped the L-C senior Tuesday night. Just that experience alone in a big match made the difference probably," Casper said. Meanwhile Spartans' coach Bob Berceau said Troy's hard to score on, and he'll win the close matches." L-C gave itself some room to breathe early thanks to Adam Depeau's and Jeremy Dart's victories at 103 and 112 respectively. I thought if we split at 3 and 12, we'd be sitting good," Berceau said. "Winning 3 and 12 kind of gave us an area to relax." The Spartans suffered a blow however when they didn't get a pin at 140 from defending state champion Nick Pell. Berceau expected a pin from the senior but Coleman's Chad Ermis made Pell work for a 10-8 decision in a match that was once tied 6-6. 103 - Adam Depeau LC beat Dan Kimmell 2-0 112 - Jeremy Dart LC beat Curtis Nowak 6-4 119 - Travis Bouchounville LC beat Troy Gross 14-2 125 - Jamie Bostwick LC beat Allan Nowak 6-1 130 - Aaron Nowak COL beat Ryan Barbiaux 5-2 135 - Matt Pell LC pinned Chad Soletske 1:57 140 - Nick Pell LC beat Chad Ermis 10-8 145 - Lenny Schaut COL pinned Luke Zimmerman 4:18 152 - James Nowak COL beat Adam Dorner 8-3 160 - Matt Markiewicz COL beat Jay Shefchik 2-0 171 - Jeremy Gross COL beat Kyle Veeser 4-0 189 - Troy Metzler LC beat Kyle Pelner 5-3 275 - Josh Nowak COL beat Nate Jandrin 9-0.
